XR SUPER SERIES SUPER LATE MODELS
It was all Superman on Saturday night as Jonathan Davenport led wire-to-wire, claiming the $50,000 XR Super Series Florida Dirt Nationals feature at All-Tech Raceway. Davenport (Blairsville, Ga.) wheeled he No. 49 Super Late Model from the outside of the front row into the lead by turn two on the first lap and never trailed, as racing raged on behind him. There were plenty of comers and goers from second on back, with Kyle Strickler and Brandon Overton duking it out for the runner-up position through caution after caution. Strickler would prevail, holding serve on the high side over the final handful of circuits. Overton finished third, while Ashton Winger was fourth and Shane Clanton was fifth, driving up 12 spots from his 17th starting position. Friday night’s $25,000 winner Tim McCreadie finished 8th after battling back from a mid-race spin.
This is Davenport’s first XR Super Series win in six starts. He’s competed in all six XRSS races in the series’ inaugural 2022 season.
